1. Basic principles
Transient electromagnetic method (TEM) is also called time domain electromagnetic method. Its measurement principle is: the medium will generate eddy currents under the excitation of the primary current pulse field. The eddy currents will not disappear immediately during the pulse interruption, and a secondary magnetic field that decays with time is formed in the surrounding space. The law of the decay of the secondary magnetic field over time mainly depends on the conductivity, volume scale and burial depth of the abnormal body, as well as the shape and frequency of the emission current. By measuring the spatial distribution of the secondary field, the spatial distribution of the abnormal body can be understood.
2. Technical characteristics
In the ground-well TEM measurement, since the receiving probe is measured along the borehole, it is closer to the underground conductive geological body, so that a stronger abnormal response signal can be obtained than the ground method. In addition, the probe is less disturbed by the conductive covering layer and external electromagnetic in the well, so it can obtain useful geological information within hundreds of meters around the borehole, and achieve better prospecting results. Ground-well TEM has unique and irreplaceable advantages in deep prospecting and using boreholes to find blind mines beside and at the bottom of the well.
3. Technical highlights
The downhole probe of the three-component ground-well TEM is 1200m deep. The probe can observe the TEM response of the axial component (using the Z component probe) and the horizontal component (using the X and Y component probes) in the well. The positioning accuracy of the probe in the well is: inclination positioning accuracy ±0.5°, rotation positioning accuracy ±0.5°, azimuth positioning accuracy ±1.0°. Key technologies: three-component directional detection technology, abnormal space positioning technology. At present, the instruments and equipment used in ground-well TEM at home and abroad mainly include the Digital PEM transient electromagnetic system of Canadian Crone Company and the PROTEM transient electromagnetic system produced by Canadian Geonics Company. The instrument model is 3D PULSE EM.
